The Garden Cottage
Come enjoy the quiet and amazing setting of this one-room cottage that has everything you need for a night, a weekend or a longer stay.
​The cottage is open year-round and is perfect for two adults.
2024 Rates:
$135 per night (2 night minimum stay)
$120 per night (4 to 6 night stay)
$100 per night (weekly, seven nights)
plus 5.5% tax

Amenities
You'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay - linens, towels, a fully-stocked kitchen, coffee/tea, a toaster and microwave/convection oven. We have high speed fiber optic internet/Wi-Fi, good cell phone reception and a flat-screen TV with a Blu-ray player, Roku and movies. The cottage is air conditioned and has a wonderful walk-in shower in the full bath. The cottage can sleep two adults and has a very comfortable king-sized bed with a heated mattress pad. There's a gas grill on the covered porch.
Guests love to watch the hummingbirds in summer, have coffee on the covered porch or take a walk down our quiet road. Feel free to roam around our property and enjoy the views and stunning perennial gardens.

“This cottage is set away from any noises except the voices of nature. Wayne and Sherrie respect your space, but when you get an opportunity to share with them, you could not find nicer people. Just a few miles from Viroqua, we stopped at the co-op for all our meals. We motorcycled some of the finest roads in the country, (I am an avid motorcyclist) and never was more than a 30-mile radius from the cottage. The cottage is located next to our home yet is still private. It is at ground level for easy access. There is a full-sized refrigerator, microwave/convection oven, and kitchen pots and pans/utensils. The cottage has a beautiful walk-in shower and full bath with towels and soaps provided. A washer and dryer are located in the kitchen area. Relax on the oversized porch where you can look out over the valley. Sorry but we can't accommodate children or pets.

The Bad Axe River, Timber Coulee and The West Fork
The cottage is just a few miles from the famous Bad Axe River and Timber Coulee Creek, and a beautiful drive to the West Fork of the Kickapoo River. We will gladly provide directions to public access to these streams, the local fly shop if you need supplies, or local guides. Vernon County is also known for canoe trips on the Kickapoo River, Wildcat Mountain State Park, and the Kickapoo Reserve with miles of hiking and horsebackriding trails. Home to Organic Valley, there's an abundance of locally-grown, organic food, including those featured at the Driftless Cafe in Viroqua, as well as local artisan cheese and winemakers. Many local Amish farmers sell maple syrup, quilts and handmade furniture.
